Higher Learning and American History X these films look at racism from different angles. They show what are some of the causes for some people to get caught up racial issues and and how general life put things into prospective.

I suggest Crash, that would be the best, then Driving Miss Daisy, as far as White and Black racism, Dangerous Minds is a good pick, it's not as apparent though, Fried Green Tomatoes has a little bit, and Stand and Deliever deals with Hispanic racism. I hope this helps!

There's a movie w/ Nicole Kidman & Anthony Hopkins, he's black but physically looks white, he chooses to live his life as a white man, denying his true identity; I think it's called The Human Stain or for an old movie see Imitation of Life

The Human Stain - Anthony Hopkins character tries to deny and escape from his black ancestry. He was ashamed of his race. He constantly questions is identity throughout the film. As lo starring Nicole Kidman who plays the love interest of Anthony Hopkins, Gary Sinise and Wentworth Miller who play the young Anthony Hopkins.

Imitation of Life
This soap opera-type drama is a good one about that theme. In it, a girl "passes" as white, even refusing to acknowledge her mother. Actually, it was filmed twice: 1934 and 1959.

Pinky
This is another one about the "passing" theme, with a girl denying her race.

Grey Owl
a man passes as a "Native North American" (stated like this at a couple of sites)

Black Like Me
Based on a true story, this is about a white reporter who has his skin darkened (melatonin I think). I believe it won an Oscar.

Losing Isaiah
black child adopted by white couple; mother wants him back

The Ten Commandments and Prince of Egypt
Moses believes he is an Egyptian and discovers he belongs to another race, causing him to change his life.

Show Boat
In this musical, Julie, the beautiful performer, is married to Stephen, who knows that his wife is of "mixed blood", but everyone else believes she is white.

Queenie (TV miniseries)
A half-caste girl rises to become a movie star.

Band of Angels
A young woman hides her parentage. When that is revealed, she is considered a commodity~a slave.

Is this what you had in mind? You said you don't want ones about racism but about identity.

You should watch Philippine documentaries such as Howie Severino's documentaries on GMA channel 7. Maybe you should research movies on the internet which is related on racial identities.
