I just had to do this to my own washer, so you are in luck!! hehe! First, fill the empty washer with hot water (put it on your hottest setting) then add about 16 oz. of chlorine bleach (some say to use a whole quart, but I think that's too much!)...let the washer run it's cycle with just the bleach....then when it's done, do it again with white vinegar...again about 16 oz. and run it until it has completed the cycle. Your washer is now squeaky clean and ready to use again!

Just run an empty load through with regular detergent and maybe a little bleach, that's what I do. Then run an empty load through without any detergent just to make sure the bleach is all rinsed out before you do a load of clothes.

To clean around the edges of the top opening, I just use a rag and wipe it down while the water and detergent are filling, then wash the rag in that load.

The interior of the tub should require very little maintenance. You may want to run an empty cycle thru it periodically, with hot water and a cup or two of bleach. Wipe the top around the tup with a damp cloth. Same for the exterior surfaces.
