Is shrinking clothes permanent?

I have a sweatshirt that I want to shrink because it`s big... I know the method... washing in hot water than drying..... But I don`t know will it be permanent? Or would it stretch back to normal?

When an article of clothing shrinks, it is permanent. It will not return to its original size.

Yes, shrinking clothes is permenent. It is done more washing in hot water.

Its permantent but itll probably just stretch a lil from wear but thats it.
