I am trying to turn the edges of the material (chiffon or georgette)- does anyone have any idea what gadget to use for this and how to use it? I can't manage to get the material through the hemmer! Thanks.

Not sure if this will work, but have you thought to try using hemming tape?

You need a special hemming foot that has a scroll on.
Check your manual, you may have one already. Good luck

With such fine material I always do it by hand. I find it a much neater finish.
