I don't think it's a horrible move, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it an upgrade at the position, either. Leftwich tends to stay in the pocket a little too long when he shouldn't, and has been known to hit the buffet from time to time.

The Falcons' QB situation is a complete disaster. They are trying to hold the season together with duct tape.

I think it is going to help them because he is a good QB. And the only reason that the Jaguars released him was because they couldn't have 2 good QB's who are worth starter money on a roster, they went with Gerrard so they let Leftwich go. He is still a good QB and can help out the Falcon's.

I believe it is a good move. For one thing he is better than Joey Harrington. With a weak Offensive Line the Falcons need at least a QB that moves in the pocket, which Byron should provide. Harrington has been sacked 13 times and has shown to be nervous once the pocket has collapsed. The Falcons have also averaged about 10 points a game; they gotta do better.

Leftwich is a crybaby. He has never produced consistantly at the NFL level, and he actually had some surrounding talent in Jacksonville. I think he is a stopgap until the Falcons draft a QB in next years draft.

I think it was a smart move.
In fact they waited too long to sign Leftwich.
They should've done it as soon as he was available since Harrington was their only option at starter.

I answered a similar answer earlier this week.
Check out the link.

To Stonewall Jack"A$$" : Leftwich was the best FA QB available. His race had nothing to do with it.

What have they got to lose? Harrington is a total bust who should never be a starting QB again. Leftwich has loads of talent and is twice the player Harrington is even with one good leg and one bad leg.

The Falcons want to prove they're as good as Miami is at collecting turd QB's. I think he is a little better than Harrington, but that's not saying much.

terrible for leftwich much like michael vick he will have no receivers and no good blocking but at least vick could run and had a cannon arm leftwich is slow and he's known for his slow windup

Another dumb move from the Falcons. They should take up volleyball or something.

Waste of money. He has never done anything in his career except get hurt.

Why couldn't they go get an OL that can block and a WR that can catch?
