Thank you skyking. I was beginning to think I was the only one who has noticed that super-fast Condom defense has a lot of holes. You're right it's too early to say which teams will go all the way. Right now I think LSU looks the best but they have a long tough SEC schedule ahead. Even if they beat Florida they will probably face them again in the SEC championship. Beating a team like the Gators twice might be too much for anybody. Marcus who the heck are you to revoke anybodies right to do anything? Who died and made you god. Calisurfer the only thing that matters is USC is 2 and 0? Well using that logic the only thing that matters is LSU is 3 and 0. Isn't Booty the Condoms first team QB? He has played in the 4th quarter of both games. So what is this crap about Carroll doesn't try to run up the score. The don't break part of "bend but don't break" means you let the other guy get yards but keep him from scoring. Scoring is the break part. Allowing over 20 points a game is bending and bending. Now even assuming USC is clearing the bench and playing all their 2nd and 3rd teamers (4th quarter Booty. Remember?). LSU and most other teams do clear the bench when the game is in hand. So this well they scored against our second team is BS. Everyone said the Condoms are so great and have so much depth. So where is it?

USC could very easily have beat Nebraska 80+ to 10, but Pete Carroll isn't the type of coach to senselessly run up the score- he has class. Class and the brains to give second string players time on the field which greatly benefits the overall program and lulls shortsighted opponents into being comforted by statistics.

By "champion[ship?]... like the NFL" I assume you mean playoffs, which would absolutely ruin college ball. The great thing about NCAA is every game matters; teams always have to play to win if they want to be champions.

In a playoff system you can allow for a few loses during the season- get down a few points and you can just give up that game but still end up in the Championship match. Really your only goal in a playoff system during 'regular season' is to lose fewer games then the rest of your conference/league/whatever. Exciting.

To the guy above me, you must some brainwashed SEC fan. Are you kidding me? Auburn, Alabama, Kentucky and Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Gerogia? Now your just talking nonsense. Get real aside from Kentucky, all of those other teams have been embarrassed this year.

Now to answer your question, stats dont mean anything or rankings. What does matter is their 2-0 and have the best team in the country. Those 20.5 points your talking about, had USC kept their starters in all game, USC could have ran it up to 65-17 if they wanted to. Yards mean nothing if your opponents dont score point, ask the New England's patriots philosophy of bend but dont break.

This USC team is NOT the best ever. You have to throw teams like the 2001 Miami Hurricanes in. Also 1995 Nebraska and 2004 USC. And lets not forget about the 2005 Texas Longhorns. Talent-wise this USC team is NOT even CLOSE to those teams.

Stats mean nothing in college football. Look at strength of schedule and see who teams have played. Ofcourse they are giving up points b/c they have their 3rd string defense playing after they get up by 28. Why all this discussion about what conference is best? All conferences have highs and lows. Nothing is settled yet, NOTHING.

put USC in the SEC, see where they wind up.
They would be the whipping post for teams such as Florida, Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, Tennessee, S. Carolina & probably even Kentucky & Vanderbilt most every year.
They would be listed around the same caliper as Miss St & Ole Miss

Wonder how many of those yards and points are given up when the second string defense is out there after USC has built a lead and Pete Carroll has called the dogs off.
