Your last period is just a rough estimate. I was told I was due with my 5 year old on March 22, origionally. Then it was moved around some (from ultrasounds) & they finally settled on March 20th. Well, he didnt decide to join the world till April 3rd. He was 2 weeks to the day late. Every womans period cycle is different, & their ovulation time is different. Its just the way it is. The baby will come when its good & ready. Be sure of that. I do however think that Oct. 3rd is quite a ways off from Sept. 12th though. So, if they stuck with that Sept. 12th for a long period of time, bet the baby will come within the 2 weeks from then. Besides, as to ultrasounds they told me 5 days before this April baby came that with his measurements & all he would be about 8 - 8 1/2 lbs & be about 21". Well, 5 days later he came out at a whopping 10 lbs. 7 oz & 23". Nothing is perfect in this world. And your baby may be slightly smaller due to your size or your partners. Dont worry it will all work out in the end.
Have a wonderful day there & dont stress about it. Enjoy what time you have left all to yourself there. Things will be changing soon enough. Best of Luck to you!!

So did I, but my bestfriend had a due date of 13th sept (2005) by her period (which was alwasy regular), but after scans ended up with a later due date, Then was induced on 1st october and then c-section after 26hrs. Baby was far too big to deliver for her (10pd) but had they taken the original and most accurate date and induced then she probably could've delivered naturally.

I always thought it went by period date too as that should be the most accurate one but if doc thinks 3wks later then there isn't a lot you can do about it. If you go into labour in the next week then you know you were right though.

Best of luck and I hope you go naturally soon. Ask them why they are not using the period date as you are 100% sure of that and what will happen to baby if it is left in-utero too long also. Make sure you voice your opinions! Its your right!

I think ultrasound is pretty reliable. That is how they told me when two of mine were due, as i didnt have a period. It does seem a little strange that the dates are two weeks out though. I would ask the doctor why he has changed the dates.

It can be based on your period, but now that their is ultrasound they can get a more accurate date. It is actually conception that determines babys approximate birth date which is only on average 2 weeks after your period. It can really be anywhere from 1 week to months afterwards depending on teh length of your cycles.
