I am 14.5 weeks pregnant and I am thinking about changing doctors for my pregnancy becuase I am not happy with where I am going. Not only do they not have the birthing expierence I want I have found the staff to care more about getting you in and out of there in 5 minnutes to get more money and more of a turnover than to actually sit down and CARE about their paitents.

Wh at can I expect at my first prenatal visit with a new OB.. since I will be going to different hospitals do I have to go through all of that testing again, and proding in my hoo-ha, or what will they generally do?

Thanks!

Ask your new OB dr. to request your records from your old OB dr. You shouldn't have any problems switching docs. You may not have to go thru the physical exam again, depending on the dr.

Please be sure to ask this question of your new dr.: Do you have admitting privileges in _______ hospital?"

Make sure your doctor has admitting privileges in the hospital of your choice. I went thru this nightmare with my firstborn, and a strange dr. I'd never met delivered my baby. Good luck to you.

At 8 weeks I was very unsatified with my doctor. So I started to interview. I interviewed a couple. One wanted me to do everything over again (pap smear, all the blood tests etc) and I realized that she was just wanted to double bill my insurance. Another one was very nice. She even did an ultrasound on me (my first) during the interview so that I could see my baby. My advice- call around. Set up some interviews. Bring copies of all your recent medical records. You need to decide soon, but it is still not too late. Good luck finding the doctor that is right for you.

Well, I switched doctors around 12-13 weeks or so. Make sure that you don't procrastinate with switching because, I was told that the once you have gotten so far into your pregnancy it is harder to switch. Also, just make sure that you have all your records sent from the doctor you are switching from, they will not make you redo all of the test that were previously taken, if they already have been done.

Hey I changes doctors twice when i was pregnant. I wasn't happy with doctor #1 he was rude to me, after i waited over 2 hours to be seen.
doctor #2 was ok but we moved housed so there was no way i was traveling 3 hours to see him!

Number 3 was at a new hospital and was perfect. She was such a lovely person. They actually will transfer all your paper work over, so you shouldn't have no hassles!!
I am actually going to see her tomorrow to see if she will be my doctor for pregnancy 2 baby 3
