You bleed some, may have some cramping or NOT any....you'll need to have some pads with you in your locker or book bag/purse (wherever they keep them now) and you'll be just fine. Until your periods are regular you may not have much bleeding....OR you may have normal amounts from the first period like I did starting at age 9yrs old. I was lucky and never had really bad bad cramping til I had an IUD inserted, but they work so good that it was worth it to me.

You may feel some cramping as well as soreness in your breasts as well as a spot of blood to indicate the start of your period. You may also notice that you crave certain things at around that time or during your period too. Sometimes it can come at night when trying to sleep like happened with me where I felt something wet when I moved around.
The period will last anywhere from 3-7 days (7 days is normal for some women with their periods). On the issue of pads, in addition to having some in your locker at school, make sure to keep some in your purse for other times when you go out such as with friends so that you have some for when you need to change.
If you have other questions for me please feel free to e-mail or IM me off site any time.

My first time wasn't at all embarrassing or like scary. When i got home, i went to the bathroom. I saw like a little circle about 2 inches of a brownish spot. I knew it was my period coz i had been expecting it. Anyhow, when my mom came home, i kept trying to find the right time to tell her, but when i did, she was cool about it. Afterall, everyone(woman :) gets it! So the day after, i happened to have gym that day, so i just asked my mom to write a note to excuse me. So everything has been fine since! Have a nice day, and good luck!

well you might get brown discharge, then as you keep getting your period it gets red. it usually lasts 3-5 days on your first time. depending on your flow you have to change your pad evry 2-4 hours.

i woke up one morning and it was there. i knew immediately what it was because i had been expecting it. the worst thing was trying to figure out how to tell my mom. but she was cool about it and i went on about my life. i was a little self consious at first, but you get used to it.
