What are you smoking.
Half of American taxpayers earn $25,000 or less, and almost 1/2 of the homeless have full time jobs.
It is the Republicans who don't want to pay. They get government contracts worth millions using OUR money and they hire illegals so they can put more in their pockets. They sure don't hire American workers a decent wage.
Tell me honestly, can you raise a family in America on $25,000 a year??????????????
We don't seek to remedy the poor? Bush has been cutting the poor and giving to the rich! The biggest welfare recipients aren't the poor, they are US corporations! They are also the biggest frauds by far!
Do you honestly think you can come out here with such nonsense and not be challenged?
Almost nothing you said has any fact to it, and you sure can't prove it! Can you?
I guess if you repeat it enough people will believe you. I won't !I know better!

We don't, but the people who run things would rather hire someone at a half or a third the wage and who can't fight back and put the money in their pockets than pay a descent wage to a citizen. I am a construction worker ( or at least I was! ) in a skilled ( or at least what used to be ) trade, I have not been able to find a job in the field I have 20 years experience in for 5 years because employers wouldn't even consider hiring you, and a lot of other people I know, ( at a descent wage ) if they could hire someone at half the price ( weather they actually knew how to do the job or not ) because they knew no body would say anything to them, least of all the government. They aren't entirely at fault though, the mindless
"get it cheaper at any cost, I want a $10,000 job done for $6,000" mindset of many people is also partially to blame

I grew up in the 1950s. The make up of our society is entirely different than it was then. I grew up in the inner city, and most of the kids I went to school with were 1st generation Americans. Their parents, immigrants to this country, took jobs that were mostly low paying jobs to establish themselves in this country. These lower paying jobs have always in the past been springboard jobs for immigrants and immigrant family.
The problem is that we haven't had a large influx of immigrants in this country in many decades. Kids in school today are 3rd and 4th generation Americans from fairly were established families. These kids are being educated for higher positions than their folks.
As such, their is no labor force to take the lower paying jobs except the illegals. The people on never ending welfare do not want these jobs. In most cases, they have children and the child care cost would eat up most of their earnings.
If you want to get welfare families to work, you need to address the child care issue. A lot of people I know on assistance would rather work but can't because of responsibilities for their children.

Nothing you say is correct. You seem to be a charter member of the "blame America first, last, and always" crowd. Your first mistake is to believe everything you read in the left wing liberal main stream media.
Employers have been hiring illegals to take advantage of them: low wages, no benefits, no unions, no labor problems.
Every time a group of illegals is rounded up and deported...such as meat packing plants in Nebraska...employers find legal employees. The labor costs are higher but there are people willing to work at any job if they get paid enough to live on.
If a successful business man hires a landscaper, it is because he can afford to do so. That is a good thing, for both. If he can afford to pay $10 he can also afford to pay $20.
You are truly misguided about the so-called poor in the US. The poverty level is arbitrary. At $32,000 per year for a family of four, the so-called poor are earning about 100 times the wages of Cuba and North Korea.
Democrats claim to want to help the poor. It is pandering. They want to buy votes from people who think they are poor, with promises of better days.
I do my own landscaping work and pay no one. I have a neighbor who runs his own landscaping business, and does most of the work. We are both white males, over middle age.
There has never been any illegals doing landscaping and farming in my neighborhood. And we are all surviving.

if the Americans were willing to work for the wages they pay the Indians/Mexicans/Chinese there wouldn't have been outsourcing & them doing "our" jobs in the first place. People don't realize that working for low wages is better than not working at all ! You need to keep pace with the changing times. You obviously can't expect to get payed like you used to in the 1980s coz its almost 30 fcukin yrs since 1980 !
Just like you want a higher pay cheque, the companies too expect higher profits. So I think there's no point sitting here and complaining coz if the Indians/Mexicans/Chinese do the same work that you do, with better productivity and at half the pay you get, its obvious that the company would prefer them over you !
Eg: You ask to get payed $500 for something and the Indian/Mexican/Chinese agrees to work for the company at $300 and with better productivity. If you were the company, whom would you choose?

America isn't weak. Immigrants have always been a valuable part of our society--and continue to be one today.
The weakness is on the part of corrupt leaders who have catered to ignorant and unpatriotic bigots who have failed to modernize our immigration system.
For the last dozen years, while these bigots whine, the right-wing controlled Congress--and did nothing while we accumulated a backlog of 12 million undocumented immigrants. Given the chance to enact conservative reform legislation this year, the scuttled it.
We will have reform--amnesty and a guest worker program--in 2009. The bigots and racists won't like it. But no one really cares. We need the immigrants--the contribute to our society. The only weak links we have are the white trash who think they're better than the illegals.

Yes! I agree, put the non working Americans to work. Force the ones who get behind on their child support (that don't want to work) to work these jobs that the border crossers are doing. I hate lazy people there are too many jobs that are unfilled and all they have to do is get there and do them but threr seems to be a lot of excuses.
