First of all, tell your dad the truth. You're becoming an adult and you need to learn how to deal with this kind of stuff head first. Tell him that it's awkward, tell him you're just being honest and you want to pass this stage. You're lucky to have a dad, many children in the UK don't have a father who is willing like this. You and your dad just don't have anything in common, it doesn't mean you should act this way, you'll probably regret it later in life. You both need to work out what you both like, he's a male, he isn't going to be into fashion, make-up, shopping, etc. but maybe you can find something to do together, something he's not so keen on either like cooking, baking. Find a sport you can take on together, like bike riding, kayaking, climbing. You need to at least try or you might as well lose your dad for good.
