That would be a cool thing for a kid to have but maybe you should first ask the parents.

Discuss it with his parents. They may not have brought him one for many reasons. They may be trying to discourage him from being sedatory all the time or they may not have the money to buy one by which it may be a bit humilating for them. Also don't succombe to pester power, stick to your gunns. This is assuming a hell of a lot so I apologise in advance. I am not saying your nephew is spoilt or in anyway annoying!

it depends on the child age and if you really want them to sit in front of the TV all day but by all mean if that's what you want to do for your nephew then he will love you even more

If he already has a PS 2 - No.
If he doesn't own PS at all, and you can easily afford, then yes, go ahead, but I agree with the poster who said that it should be for a special occasion.
