I have attached 3 sample letters of resignation for you. As far as I know, they haven't been circulated throughout Y!A yet!

There is no specific format as such. Submitting a straight resignation may sometimes be treated as a violation of terms of appointment and the employer has the right to ask you to pay the notice period pay.

hence the best way to submit your resignation is to say:

Dear Sirs,

With reference to the appointment letter No.---dated----, I hereby submit the notice of my resignation and request you to kindly accept the same and relieve me at the earliest possible.

I thank you for the opportunity given to me to serve the organisation which i will always cherish.

With kind regards

xxxxxxx

PS: Now if they decide to relieve you immediately, you can always ask for the notice period to be paid , since you have submitted a notice of resignation and not a " resignation:.If you want to serve out the notice period and enjoy it, go ahead. No body can object unless they pay the notice pay.

It depends on why and what circumstances you wish to resign! There is no set "format", but here is one which may be suitable:

Dear Sir,

RESIGNATION: J.JAMES.

I have had the happiness and satisfaction of working for you company since ............(Date), and wish to say that I enjoyed working for this company.

Due to certain personal problems, however, I regret that I would not be able to continue working after 30 Sep 2007.

Kindly accept this as my formal resignation letter, and adjust all my dues by that date.

Yours sincerely,

Sd/xxx. James.

Address this to the senior official or manager.

Dear Sir,

I tender my resignation from the service of this organization from the close of working hours on October 1, 2007.

I take the opportunity to thank my colleagues and superiors for their support and co-operation during my tenure.

With best wishes,

Very truly yours,
