Collins wrote the music long before Ronnie Van Zant came up with lyrics for it. Van Zant finally got inspired one night and had Collins and Gary Rossington play it over and over until he wrote the words.
And Jimmy Page said Jeff Beck was better than he.

Sorry,but Jimmy Paige couldn't hold Hendrix jock. Albert Collins & Gary Rossington played guitar on all Skynyrd tunes.

Correcting spelling of first names: the late Allen Collins (died of pneumonia at 37 after a car crash paralyzed him) and Gary Rossington. Rossington is married to backing vocalist Dale Krantz-Rossington.
Rossington is in the current lineup with former Blackfoot axeman Rickey "Lightning" Medlocke.
NOTE: Hughie Thomasson, the former lead vocalist of the Outlaws whom joined this band to sing and play guitar as well in late 1996, died of a heart attack ten days ago. May his soul find Green Grass and High Tides at the next level. His last show was right here in Las Vegas at the Tropicana with the regrouped Outlaws.

Hi!
His name was Gary Rossington. Unfortunately, Gary died as a result of a drunk-driving accident, which was his fault. His fiancee' was killed instantly, Gary, confined to a wheelchair with severe brain damage, continued to tour with the band, making short appearances on stage, preaching the "dangers" of OWI.
Gary died in his sleep, at home, due to respiratory failure. He was 28 years old. R.I.P., Gary, WE ALL MISS YOU!!!!!!!
