I'd pick Pippen. He's a perfect complimententary player because he don't take the spotlight for himself and is much content playing on the shadows of another great superstar.
Let's talk stats now: Pippen is a player that can take his game in a higher dimension when needed to. Look at the way he carried Chicago back in 1994. They made the play-offs with him as their main man, even making it to the Conference Semi-finals before losing in seven games to the Knicks, leading the Bulls in scoring, assists, and the entire league in steals, averaging 22.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 2.9 steals, 0.9 three-pointers, and 0.8 blocks per game, while shooting 49.1% from the field and a career-best 32% from the three-point line. For his efforts, he earned the first of three straight All-NBA First Team nods, and finished third in the MVP voting.
I'll repeat, He led the Bulls to the second-round of the play-offs, Second-round. Doesn't it ring a bell?
Hope this helps.

Kobe Bryant is actually in his prime right now. Which means that the 2005-2006 season up until now should count. Considering this; he is the same man who put up 62 points in 3 quarters against Dallas. He scores 81 points against Toronto. People say that anybody who shoots the ball a lot can do that. I beg to differ. Try shooting 28-46. Ridiculous.
Fast forward to 2006-2007. Scores 65 points vs. Blazers. Shoots 23-39 from the field! Shoots 8-12 on 3 pointers! That's 66%. That usually happens to people who are in the zone, but they soon fade, usually the next game. But not Kobe; he scores 50 against Minnesota, 60 points against Memphis and 50 points against New Orleans consecutively.
But Pippen has a crazy stat sheet and numerous accomplishments: Made All Defensive team 9 straight seasons (Kobe has 6 to date). 7 of them are First All Defensive team. Ranked 2nd in Bulls history in points. All star 7 times. 3rd in Bulls history in Rebounds and Blocked shots! He also made the playoffs in 16 straight seasons.
The moment of truth is sad for me. I route for the Lakers and I am a fan of Kobe Bryant. But no doubt, without Pippen, Jordan would not have six rings. But if you say the same about Kobe and Shaq? Well Shaq has at least 1.
The best in their prime...............drumroll please.......Scottie Pippen!
But keep this in mind, Kobe is not done yet. I think he has about 7-8 more seasons left in him, maybe more. So we will see how this unfolds later. But as of right now, I'm going with Scottie Pippen.

Pippen! Ok you had Pippen with Jordan and Kobe with Shaq and the fact that they played with those players made them way better and they were in their prime at that time! What tandem was the most devistating say in the finals or World Championships? Pippen/Jordan! How many rings? And ol Scotty was respectively just a phenominal player! I think 1 of the best ever especially in the clutch.
I could also compare 2 other tandams.Larry Bird/ McCale/Parrish and Magic/ Kareem/ and Worthy in their 80's wars they had! Some of the greatest b-ball I've ever seen!

I will say Pippen is better in his prime. The one reason is he was a way better team player than Kobe.
Remember in 1993-94, Jordan left and Pippen led them to the Eastern Finals? The Bulls posted a 55-27 record and got eliminated by the tough Knicks in 7 games.
Pippen gets my vote, plus he was a better rebounder, assist man and the defense was super. Jordan played D but Pippen was matched up against the top G, PG or SF of the other teams.

here are comparisons:
pippen is an all around DEFENDER and a perfect complement to a star. he dwells in the shadow of a big name and his stats would say it all. watch how andre iguodala plays, though he still has to improve his threes, and you'll get a glimpse of how scottie plays.
kobe is an all around PLAYER, which means he can play both ends of the court for 48 minutes, defends the likes of james, ginobili, allen and redd and have a season average of 31ppg. i am not a kobe fan though i believe that he is really good. to score 81 points in a single game in this era of basketball where defense has improved to a point where it can literally stop anybody is just amazing. Kobe has all the makings of a legend the way wilt was. the only problem is ego and personality issues.
therefore, i can say that the better Player is Kobe Bryant.

team game, by far Pippen is better, I don't think I need to state any argument for this one
one on one, Kobe is better, both guys could play defense and Kobe's offense will prevail.
If you ask Phil Jackson, in a team that has Jordan or Shaq already, who will he choose as the #2 guy. Jackson would pick Pippen without a doubt. But for a team that don't have Jordan or Shaq, it will be a tough choice between the two men, and I don't know who he will pick.

This is not even a question. Kobe Bryant is better. The only reason Scottie was any good is because of Jordan. Jordan was triple covered wich left Scottie wide opened. If your in the nba and your wide opened you must sink the shot. Even later in his career in Houston he had Barkley and Olajuan. Kobe just needs a side kick like Scottie to succeed in the post season. Shaq groomed and helped Kobe. Now he needs to be the older brother in a group and man up and stop being a ball hog.

actually skywalker Kobe can't play the 3 on offense mainly because of the other players on the floor.... and for the dummy who said Pippen you're a dumbass
Scottie Pippen was a defender besides Jordan he was the best perimeter defender in the league and yes he is an intelligent player but thats it.... Scottie Pippen was an average scorer at BEST... he didnt have bad offense it was just that so much attention was drawn onto jordan it allowed pippen to score because look what happened the two years jordan was gone... there was an actual decline in skills
Kobe Bryant is probably the closest thing to Michael Jordan (i did not say he was the next, or he was better...) Kobe is a complete player, excellent offense and defense... Kobe isnt even out of his prime yet and each year his stats are on a rise especially when shaq left (take it how you want it) neither men can lead a team or win a championship when their significant partner left...
In my opinion i would take kobe over pippen anyday mainly because he brings more than defense onto the court... and i really hope no one mentions championship rings because Robert Horry has seven of them and he is definitely not a hall of famer

As much as I hate to say it, I'd take Kobe over Pippen.
Scottie was by far a better defender, and probably better all around, but Kobe imo is already one of the greatest scorers in nba history. I'm not a fan of his, but I'm not biased either.
I'm just glad you didnt compare Kobe to Air Jordan, cause that would've been a joke. MJ would eat him up.
