the nurses normally give you a pregnancy test before they will put you on any birth control

Usually they will not test unless you miss the time frame to have another shot or you are just getting depo for the first time, they will do a pregnancy test.

You won't know you are pregnant unless you have symptoms, and then I'd hope it isn't too late and nothing will happen to the fetus.

You can still get pregnant while on depo as it is only 99% effective.

I was on depo for four years and I am so glad I'm off of it now.

It depends have you been getting the shots before or just starting? If you are just starting they usually do a pregnancy test before they put you on birth control... if the b/c failed then you would be late and suspect something was up and get tested because b/c tends to regulate your period and it comes on a regular cycle unless something happens like either it fails or there is some serious stressor in your life that would throw it all out of wack... although still I think your periond would still come when it was supposed to because of the hormones in the b/c. But if you suspect that you are pregnant call your gyno asap because b/c can cause harm to a fetus/baby.
