If the troops fighting in Iraq are brought home as many people would want to happen, whether in the USA or Britain then both countries will look to saving on the annual budget by reducing their armed forces. History has proved that this will happen. If soldiers return from Iraq many will face redundancies.

No, we're in a position where the only practical thing to do would be to stay there for a long period of time, as sad as that is. 10 years would be horrible, but you must remember that people tend to think in terms coinciding with their own short lives, not seeing the longer end of time connected with history.
Let us not forget that Great Britain was in this region for over 40 years. The future does not look too bright.

Bush has no choice. We have literally run out of soldiers to replace those whose tours are up. Some units have been activated for the 4th time in 6 years, dropping re enlistment levels dramatically. The Army & Marines are stretched to their limits.

He has no choice: It wasn't his bid to start with, Congress put the pressure on him and, he had to comply. It was just a matter of when, he did have the choice of the date if it was within reason.
This new "Blackwater" incident gives you an idea as to what's going on internally and what the Iraqi think of us, also the incident where the four soldiers were killed in the police station, ambushed, while the Iraqi policemen on duty stood by and watched.
It's time to get out and leave them to their fate.

yes i do, but i think it needs to to be reduced at a gradual pace. Even as a new recruit to the "world's finest" i believe that it is a need until all of the deck is caught or confirmed dead. by the way there in no need to bash the current president, just because he felt the need to fininsh a war started many years ago when sadam first had came to power.
