I was at the movie theater this past Sunday, and I hap my laptop snatched from me.

I called the San Francisco Police Department right away, and they sent two officers over, I told them the situation, and they gave me a "Reportee Follow-Up" with a case number. And then they said that they would go look for the guy who did it.

Then I went to the security at the movie theater, and told them the situation, and they said that they would review the tapes and let me know the next day.

I went back the next day, and they said that they reviewed the footage and they saw the incident happen, but they can't show it to me.

They said they would give 100% cooperation with the SFPD when they begin the investigation, but they can't do anything about it now.

What do I do now?

Thanks in advance!!

Wait for the police to sort it out. I hope your laptop did not contain very sensitive information or was rather expensive. Stealing a Laptop is a pretty audacious thing for someone to do.

The SFPD are often quite busy, especially it being San Francisco. They have a lot on their hands, and it may be a little while before they can get back to you.

Have you contacted SFPD and told them to follow up on this?
Sounds like they pretty much got the thief.

All you can do is sit, wait and hope for the best you get it back, it is to be hoped you have save all you wanted data to a flash drive, or made backup CD's of your files...

Anyway I hope you get it back soon. and the perps get jail time....

ok, firstly try to find a recipt for the laptop, if you can find it, check if its under warrent, if it is, great, take it to your insruance company and tell them the story of what happened, they will do 'the best they can do', if you have no luck take it to where you bought it from and see what they can do. your welcome
