I had breast surgery recently. Everything went well, and I'm fine now. However, in about a week I'm going to have the drains removed from my two incisions. Is it going to be painful to have them removed? I'm really anxious about this procedure as it sounds painful. Until I get a hold of my doctor and ask her, I'd like to have some honest feedback from a former patient.
And please, no rude, crude, or mean answers. Thanks.

Hi,
Pl. do not worry removal of the drainage tube is not pain ful.
I am sure you are talking about the small drainage tubes inserted into the defatted areas to remove blood and fluid that accumulate during the first few days. If significant fluid or blood is lost during the surgery.

After the surgery, pressure bandages are applied to stop any bleeding, as well as help maintain shape. Bandages are kept in place usually for at least 2 weeks. The doctor may call from time to time to check on one’s health status and monitor healing. A visit back to the surgeon after 5-7 days is often recommended.

Get well soon

I didn't have any drains, but the women I've heard who had them removed said anywhere from it being painful to not hurting at all. It varies from person to person.
