Ok, I'm fairly good at computers, but trying to create a VPN is blowing my mind, I think I need a step by step guide to this, so far I've had to restore my defaults because I cant figure it out, especialy on static IPs... Anyway I have an Emachines pc with Windows XP Home Edition, it is connected to a Linksys WRT54G Router, which is connected to my dsl modem (a Speedstream 4100/4200 series) and I have tried everything i can think of to make this work, as of now I've only been able to connect to my pc when my laptop is on my linksys' wireless network, if any one could help me out it would be greatly appreciated

You'll have to get the settings from the system admin on the distant end. There are a number of options and if you don't have everything right it won't work. VPN passthrough is enabled by default on your Linksys but make sure that that hasn't been changed.
