I believe that pondering about stuff that you've typed out is all something that -everyone- does at some point in their lives. If anyone calls you emo or depressed for thinking this way (you'd probably know if you were depressed, and you'd definatley know if you were emo), then you shouldn't let their rude statements bother you. :)
As for my own opinions on the subject...I don't think that we can ever really know what the point of life is. We can ask ourselves, however, what the point of not living is. People sometimes think that suicide is the way out. While I understand that there are often a lot of factors that go into thoughts like this (I've tried to kill myself before, so, I have experience, which sounds awful I know), you can still think about it in a general sort of way. What's the point of not existing? So you can't go outside every day and breathe the fresh, cool air? So you can't build relationships with people, ones that involve love?
Wondering about the point of life is all a part of living. If you didn't wonder about those things, you would be living in the dark (in a way).
Life isn't just about death, or about your funeral, etc. You have every day to make something of yourself. To show emotion in everything that you do. To accomplish things, or possibly make the world a better place. That's one big thing that certain people have been put on the Earth to do: make the world better for their posterity. I don't know who you are, but who knows what you could become. I'm not trying to feed you the American dream antic, but you can't deny that no one knows what the future holds.
In my opinion, you should think about all of things that you could do in your lifetime. But, that's just how I think. It might sound super-optimistic, but I think it's a good way to do things.
Good luck! :)

We all die. We all have to pay the rent, so we all have to work, unless you were born into $$$$$. There may be no meaning to any of this. Life just is. A lot of people say its what you make it but most try to make it something grand and fall flat. You must learn to glean what you can from the moments of peace, happiness, love n lust. I always question what the meaning is, or, rather if there is a meaning, even when happy. Humans cant live in a universe which has no meaning or direction, too much chaos. We as creatures are very self important. Chaos does not lend itself to control. Live life enjoy the good times and things and people. Learn from the pain, the death of love and remember to not take advantage of the fleeting pleasure, savor it, enjoy it embrace it fervently, be a hedonist, only in living life to its fullest {that includes the bad stuff too} can we be prepared for the inevitable that we ALL must face, that darkness. I believe that we die and our energies return to the universe to become part of the cosmic eternity..to return to stardust...

It always amazes me that everyone is so convinced that there has to --BE-- a point to it. Some great meaning that makes each of us an indispensible piece of some as-yet-to-be-written history. Maybe that's just the 'ego' thing that drove the Church to believe That the Earth was the center of the Universe. The need to feel important.
Party down and enjoy yourself, do what you like to do, and try not to fµck with other peoples enjoyment of life any more than you can avoid. You're only here for a brief period anyway. But when you're dead, you're dead for a -very- long time.

yes i ususually do. especially recently cause i am a little depressed and down. sometimes i think it is all aimless and i can't find any point in living. it is really funny. if you don't work you don't have enough money to enjoy your life and you might even die of hunger or something. but if you work you don't have the time and you can't do the things you like cause you are so tired when you return home that you just want to sleep. i sometimes like to escape to a far and isolated island and live alone and have some peace of mind to think about myself, the world, future and things like this. it is all stupid even if you believe in life after death. they say you would live there forever but that is terrible. what for? the idea of being eternal is not very appealing to me. lol. i don't know maybe we (sorry to include you too) are not normal?!

I think the purpose in life is to become a better person, to rid yourself of personal flaws (insomuch as you are able) and to find fulfillment in what you are doing. I think we are told by our culture that it is important to get an education and provide for our families (and it is) but those are the means to having a happy life - not the purpose themselves. I find my happiness and fulfillment in the time I spend with my family - not in the time I spend earning money to support them. I also find that it is important to make sure that family comes before work in a crunch. If work comes first life is miserable.

Why should there be any point? The question exists only until there is someone to ask it. We are born and die just because it so happens. It can also happen that we die before birth or are never concieved at all.
It's all about the chance - main governing force in the universe.

It's questions like this that can drive people insane or to suicide.
"There is only one really serious philosophical question, and that is suicide. Deciding whether or not life is worth living is to answer the fundamental question in philosophy. All other questions follow from that." (Albert Camus - philosopher)
But the question of "point of life" implies a purpose of life and purpose requires God.
“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –(Bertrand Russell - philosopher and mathematician)
I've reasoned that life either has no purpose (and no point) or seeking and finding our Creator is the purpose of life that He gave us to accomplish.

Qweem you should be a motivational speaker or somethin.
i really like some of these answers. i believe doing what you love and being with the people you love is the point to life but without god i can really see no overall point in this life.

it is on the individual to find a point to life. it doesn't have to be family. it doesn't have to be a high-paying career. but the point of life is whatever you decide it to be. you're going to die whether you make this decision or not, so make the best of life while you still are alive.

The point of life, or goal of life, is the creation of new life. If you study simple biology, starting with plants, and their seeds: Everything produces far more seeds than one plant's worth - you have one grass plant, and it produces hundreds of seeds. same with fruits - an apple has several to many seeds inside it, and same for animals and people... we are full of seeds and the goal of each seed is the creation of new life. "Go forth and replensh the earth"
