Polycystic ovary syndrome is a disease that causes chain-like cysts on your ovaries. They usually go away on their own but in some cases they have to be removed. I should know I have it... I was reading the posts before me and geez if you are asking because a doctor has said you have it or could have it those posts could really scare you. I haven't experienced all the symptoms and most people don't. It is caused by your body making too many androgens or male hormones. 1 in every 10 women of childbearing age has PCOS and it is the most common cause of infertility and miscarriages. With that said it is not impossible to get pregnant because I have a beautiful 18 month old son but I have also miscarried once. They have put me on Metformin to help with the PCOS cause it can cause pre diabetes and even full blown diabetes... I am sure the doctor will talk about that. PCOS also causes weight gain but you learn to watch what you eat and to exercises. Believe me PCOS is a thing you have to learn to live with but it isn't the end of the world which is what most people think when they read all the symptoms.
