I'll be traveling in Ireland and throughout western and southern europe in october, and would like to know what to expect the weather to be like so I can pack acordingly.

I've heard that italy is nice but somewhat rainy, but nobody I've talked to knows much about what ireland or the check republic is like that time of year.

I don't want to not take warm enough clothes but I also don't need to waste the space if I won't need them.

any advice would be great thanks.

It could snow a little in Ireland by October. I suggest you carry a heavy jacket and a rain coat just to be sure. The best way to enjoy yourself in a foreign land is to feel comfortable. An extra jacket wouldn't hurt very much.

October in most of Europe has weather for jeans, sweaters and a light winter coat. (Or a good wind and waterproof coat and an extra shirt.)
Also take some T-shirts, as a sunny afternoon in Italy can be warm enough not to wear a sweater.
Snow is really unlikely, unless you go into the mountains in Italy or Czech republic, and even than you will have to go to the higher tops.

Scandinavia does (often) have snow in October, but farther south it is unlikely.

Rain is almost a given, in most of Europe, any time a year.

It'll probably be wet in Ireland. The best thing to do is wear layers and take layers off as necessary. It will not be snowy here, it rarely snows in Ireland and certainly not in October.
