Basically how does one productively confront and work out a problem with someone else? For example, ignoring the problem until it goes away, staying calm during conflict...etc.

Conflict resolution is used in a person's entire life--everybody has conflict--learning to effectively communicate helps--mature people talk things out or work out issues successfully or just say "I'm Sorry" and move on. The world is made up of a lot of peoiple--we all have to learn to get along and express ourselves correctly. Screaming, pouting, babies are immature and obnoxious.

Rewards, talking to them, explaining to them, complementing.

Often teenagers are getting themselves into arguments or fights because they are looking for attention, they are looking for a way too fill in those blank spots in their emotion which is found in the core. Many of these kids are having problems at home, or don't have friends, get close to them, talk with them one on one.

Well... Usually if I have a problem with someone we just leave it... We aren't friends, oh well... Sometimes we peace sh!t out... And in severe cases, which are rare, we fight it out... I dont think most teens are too concerned with problem solving unless the problem is with a close friend or boyfriend/girlfriend...

im not sure what you mean but
to indentify the problem im quite sure you should speak to the one having the problem otherwise talk to someone close to them, after finding out the problem be sympathetic and discus what they think should be done with it.
No one likes to be spoken at.
