I am currently screwed like you. I'm just starting to get out of my slump. You have to manage your money, you can't go out even if you have $20 extra dollars for a weekend, save those dollars! they will come in handy later in the month when rent comes around or when you need some food. If you must, sacrifise bills over food, don't starve yourself, you can always catch up on bills once you get a second job and a second job does make it easier. I was living it up at the beginning of the year do to a second job. Save up as much as you can, i lost my second job and i was in a panic. I work in the aerospace industry and everything whent slow this year for a while. my second job had to let me go and my first job cut all my overtime. Overtime and a second job was where i was making more money than i needed. Now i'm still with one job and no overtime. Do what i said above and you should be fine, but believe me, its hard. Always remember, as bad as it is, there is always worst so keep going after what you need and want.

Oh, man, there are so many tricks. Share a place rather than getting your own. There are places where, if you volunteer, they will give you a bag of groceries in exchange for your time. Find a community garden and participate in that, so you can get food from it. Throw a party and ask your friends to bring the food, and then live off it for several days. Get one bottle of vodka and ask your friends to bring the mixers, and then you don't spend money in bars. Go out on dates to Chinese restaurants, and bring home the extras for another meal. Use the computer at the library instead of paying for Internet at home. Only have a cell phone and no land line. Buy your clothes at thrift stores -- if you volunteer at them, you get first choice on the clothing. Get videos at the library instead of renting them, and get your books there, too. You should look online for sites that are for penny pinchers: they have lots of good ideas. Oh, and yes, BTW, it does get better. If you learn to save money now, it will help you a lot later in the future.

Bought my first house, cashed out my savings bonds for food. After a year of this, I figured out that since I got a big tax refund because of the interest and taxes I was able to deduct. I increased my exemptions on my W-2 form to get more money from my paycheck each month. Instead of getting thousands back the next tax year, I got back about $200.

Prostitution? Not really a good idea.

Eat lots of rice, potatoes, stuff like that.
Cook up several meals worth at once. It saves time and money.

And simply stop buying things you don't need.

Share your apartment with a roommate. Could cut the rent down in half.
