Hollister Babe, I feel for ya. I have done the same exact thing more times than I care to admit. I haven't heard about castor oil helping, so I can't say for sure, but I can tell you that it will take several weeks for them to grow back in and they do kind of go through a scraggly looking stage, that is normal, but can be modified so that it isn't so noticable..
What I did was let them fill out slowly. By this I mean, I thought it looked kind of bad for them to grow in all at once. So I would let the width increase by a 2-3 hair width, but keep the rest trimmed up.Then, once that was grown in, if they still weren't thick enough I would let the next layer of a 2-3 hairs width grow in. I also found that eyebrow pencil is harsh and unnatural looking so I used an eyebrow shadow for filling them in. The effect was a lot more natural and I don't think anyone really noticed. It helps to put foundation on your eyebrows as a base, or primer, something for the eyebrow shadow to adhere to and then a light dusting with a face powder to set it and help it last longer.
In all honesty, only a mom usually notices and comments on stuff like that and we are the only ones who are so critical of ourselves. With time and a few makeup tricks your eyebrows will soon be back in and it won't be an awful transistion period.
Good luck.

Castor oil helps, but don't expect miracles...the eyebrows are the slowest-growing hair on our body.
I read (below is the source) that the average number of days for a plucked eyebrow hair of an adult to regenerate a hair fiber is about 56 days. The regeneration will occur at an average growth rate of .16mm per day.
If you did your eyebrows with an electrical epilator it will take a longer time since it destroys the hair follicle. Also this is considered to be a permanent hair removal method.
If you removed that hair for the first time it will grow faster than if you removed it periodically. By doing the latter the hair follicle is probably more damaged and will take more time to regenerate.
If it's just a mistake and you did it for the first time then it's a matter of a few weeks before it grows back.
Hope it helps!
p.s. what you could do while it grows back is to wear sun glasses (there are so many different types now that even those almost transparent will do)

Being a country girl I can tell you that Castor oil cleanses your internal system and it works very well. Otherwise time will heal your other problems use an eyebrow pencil in the mean time. P.S. You never said you felt that your eyebrows were to thin for you. What ever makes you feel comfortable being you IS OKAY.

A better alternative to Castor oil is Vaseline. Basic Vaseline/petroleum encourages hair growth. It was not unheard of, of women to use Vaseline on their faces 50-60 years back. However, this did cause excessive hair growth. Marilyn Monroe is an example. In many of her photographs from the early 60s, she has a fairly thick layer of baby blonde hair down the sides of her face. Beauty has a price.
So, a pot of Vaseline will help you out. Especially before bed time. During the day, seek out a quality eyebrow pencil, a shade lighter than your color. Applying in short, feathery strokes.
As with all hair, it grows back.

Ok first deep breaths...its ok...ive made the SAME exact mistake.. From my experience Castor oil doesnt work...but you could always use a light brown eye pencil to kind of fill it in... It will take about a week for you to start noticing them grow again!
Good LUck

TIME makes them grow back. Castor oil will give you clogged pores and pimples.
Try to use an eyeshadow thats close to your eye brow color, it will look more natural than a pencil. If you use a pencil, you will get more of a retro look. Depends on your look though.
GOOD LUCK

You can use 5% Rogaine applied w/ a cotton swab to help your brows grow back faster. For details: http://www.oprah.com/health/beauty/health_beauty_200404_eyebrows.jhtml
As for how long it will take, brows grow back slowly. There are ways to fill them in - see this article: http://www.cosmeticscop.com/learn/makeup.asp?ID=175
Don't worry - most of us have been there. Just put away the tweezers for now.

Yeah...you can use an eyeshadow instead of eyebrow color. Eyebrow color makes your eyebrow hairs stick to it, it even makes eyebrow hairs fewer after longer use, so watch out!
Use an eyeshadow color that matches your hair or dark/light brown! You can also use clear mascara to contour your eyebrows!
