The unit volume weight of saltwater is higher than same unit volume weight of chlorinated pool water. By Archimedes's principle that a body loses a weight equal to the weight of water displaced you will find it easier to float in saltwater than in fresh water. Chlorinated fresh water and fresh water are almost equal in weight. Both saltwater and chlorinated fresh water will dehydrate the skin as well as irritate it if exposed for a long time.

Ocean water is 3.5% NaCl or common table salt.
It's density is higher than pool water so you float better
in the ocean than in a pool.
You become dehydrated in the ocean because your body
losses water trying to dilute the salty water.
Swimming in the ocean for hours makes you thirsty.
You body absorbs water in a pool to dilute your body's salinity to match the pool water.
Swimming in a pool for hours, your skin shrivels up from taking on water and you don't get thirsty.
Another difference is you might get bit by a shark in the ocean but not in a pool.

Depending on the amount of salt, you're more buoyant. If you drink saltwater, you'll puke and turn green (not scientific said but oh so true). And most saltwater contains things that will eat you, poison you, stick you, bite you and everything that has been dumped for all time.

chlorinated water kills bacteria, and has free chlorine molecules dissolved in the water.
Saltwater has chlorine in the form of chloride ions, not free chlorine, and cannot kill bacteria.
