I am eloping in a couple weeks with my fiance at Marthas Vineyard. We have the beach picked out but we don't have a back up plan for bad weather. Does anyone know the island enough to tell me another -Covered- spot incase it rains besides our hotel room? I don't have to worry about guests but it will also be too last minute (& too expensive) for a rented venue. I was just wondering if anyone knew the island well enough to name a pretty gazebo or nice public space... just incase.

There is a covered bandstand at Ocean Park in Oak Bluffs you could probably use in case of bad weather. Has view of the ocean from the bandstand too!
I'll be in Oak Bluffs the Columbus day weekend so maybe I'll see you there!

I agree with Beatle Fan. . . .That area has a gorgeous view. But, keep in mind, if the weather is bad, even if you are covered by something like that, with all the wind, and the water it can still be sort of crazy. You might want to think of at least checking if the hotel has any suggestions or what the price would be for a small room there (not a bedroom, obviously, but they may have a conference room or something similar) because this time of year it's hard to plan for Cape Cod!

Hi, I live on Cape Cod, but have been to the Vineyard only a couple of times..check out www.mvy.com, it's the chamber of commerce for the island and can give you better info...Good Luck and bring a sweatshirt!!! (esp for the ferry ride over!!)

I wish I could help. I've only been to MV once. But I can't believe you'd plan an outdoor wedding in New England without a plan B!
