I heard somewhere that babies don't reach for things out of arms reach. Is this true?

If a baby can see it, they will try to reach it. Sometimes they may get upset when it is out of reach, for they don't realize that their arms are shorter then their vision.

This would depend somewhat on the baby's age. Newbies might only grasp what touches their hand. There focus length is only about 45cm (1' 6"). As their eye sight and hand eye co-ordination develop they can and will reach for objects that they can see. Its a learning curve for them to realize not everything that they can see, they can reach.

not true. Babies have to learn depth perception too and will often reach for things they can't reach. :)
