I want to know what device i need to make regular microphones work in my computer? Is it a usb mixer that I need?

My friends and I are trying to do a online radio talk show.

All I have is a webcam with a mic in it, and that works nice, but I want to be able to run around thee to four mics and a mixer with some cd players.

Please give me any info you can on what i need to get regular mics and dj mixers to work with my regular no thrills PC. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Whilst a USB mic is ideal for tasks such as podcasting, see:

It sounds like you are going to need a mixer anyhow, so the USB microphone idea is not really going to work.
Yes, a USB mixer will do the job, but one that can run four mic's may set you back quite a bit of cash (the cheaper ones have one or two inputs)
There is no reason why you can't use a standard mixing desk and run it into the LINE IN of your computer.
I did an example on the DIY section of my website, this is for connecting a cassette player to record on the PC, but the principles for what you want to do will be the same:

follow the link to 'cassette to CD'
You may find the 'multi-track recording' link useful too...

The microphones is the easy part. USB microphones. Your are limited only by the number of USB ports on your PC.

In so much as the mixer. you are probably better off creating a playlist in an audio program, and running it from there. That way you can pick the songs you want to play right then and there. In the same respect, you can also create a long playlist for dinner breaks and bathroom breaks.

hi! attempt to bypass on your administration PANEL and decide SOUNDS AND AUDIO instruments then verify AUDIO. on the SOUND RECORDING choose your USB microphone. could it no longer be there please merely be sure you have the main suitable driving force put in (if needed). stable good fortune!
