Well, obviously the FINISHED product sitting on the store shelves hasn't been tested on animals.... but what about PROTOTYPES in development? Although they're telling the truth about the FINISHED products not being tested on animals, how do we know they don't test on animals on unfinished prototypes in the lab? Is Bath & Body Works 100% cruelty-free, or just their finished products?

Caringconsumer.com is an excellent site about animal testing. Check this link for lists of companies that are cruelty free & that do test on animals.

It just means that they don't rub their finished lotion on cats, but they probably test certain ingredients on animals to see how skin reacts. Lots of big companies use chemicals that dry out skin and hair, and have multi-syllabic names the average person cannot pronounce. If you want to avoid this buy products that have almond oil, glycerin, or coca butter for the base. these natural products are good for the skin and wont cause irritation (unless you have an allergy. obviously someone with a nut allergy is not going to love their new almond oil body butter.) so yes, parts of that lotion were tested on animals, and its just as bad as testing the finished product on animals.

I think its more about the sub compounds used to make their products they dont want to be held accountable for, because some company they buy ingredient X From uses animal testing. They are simply stating they themselfs do not test on animals but some of their sub-compounds might have been by whomever makes them, its a disclaimer of sorts.

It just means that the chemicals and ingredients found in the finished product have been tested on animals... At one time or another.
Bath & Body works doesn't test their products on animals.
I hope this helps. God bless.

Finished products only. If prototypes or other ingredients in the product were not tested on animals they would say so. Companies are very sneaky about what the do and do not say in their marketing.
