What comic related animated movies came out before 1998?

The movie I'm looking for is about a guy who goes into his own reality in which he is a hero and saves the day. He is actually just a normal guy(I think). He likes this girl who walks around through the whole movie very scantily clad. I think he's depressed. I watched this movie back in '98 so I know it had to of come out a while before then.

The whole movie was animated.....not like cool world in which part is animated and part is not...I actually own cool world...its a good movie.
