Good, strong boy names tend to have one syllable, like Dan or Bob or Jim. If they're in rural areas, or you'd like to add some color to them, add the suffix of repeating the last letter and then a "y." Danny, Bobby or Jimmy.

As far as girl names, if I'm ever blessed with a daughter, and I get to name her, it'll be Brianna Nicole, after my deceased cousin Bryon.

EDIT: By the way, the whole first paragraph is meant to be a joke because my name's Dan. I have no idea what the hell makes a good boy name.

Harriett, Camilla, Charlotte or Rachel for a girl and Zach or Daniel for a boy. Well, I like them anyway! Personally would stray away from names that are unusual. You may like them now but what about in 20 years time when hippy is out?

Boy: Ben, Max, Markus, Cory
Girl: Nadia, Esperanza, Avera, Serena, Annika

The girl's names aren't too popular, and they're pretty & unique. Markus isn't very popular either but it's a nice name.

I think what you should look for is a name that isn't common but isn't weird. Harder than you'd think. I am having trouble choosing a girl's name. I like Avril, Kitania, Nastasya but nothing is really grabbing me. For a boy we've always like Slade, Ryun or Archer.
