ok lets break this thing down to the basics.

if we loose 2 degrees of air temp. for every 540 ft. of altitude then we need to know how many times 540 goes into 64,997.

so, 64997 divided by 540 = 120.36

now, we lost 2 degrees of air temp. every time we gained 540 ft of altitude. And we gained 540 ft. of altitude 120.36 times in order to achieve our total hight of 64997 ft.

so, 120.36 times 2 = 240.72

so the air temp dropped a total of 240.72 degrees from the time we left the ground to the time we reached our total achieved highth

2*(64997/530) = about 245 degrees
