I'm actually taking a college class that deals with this sort of thing. You can actually tell just by looking at someone whether they look at others as actual people or just as objects. The ones who look at people as people tend to radiate a positive energy, and are more enjoyable to be around than the average person, who typically looks at most other people as objects or competition.

Of course. It's not the only indicator, but it's probably the best one. That's why we have to have emoticons on the web: you can't see the person's face.

yes. sometimes people don't vocalize it so you have to look at their expressions. Just another form of silent communication.
