you have the child lock thing on..... get your book for the car out and read how to dis engage it

I had a 1985 Volkswagen Jetta tha thad rear child safety locks. There's always a switch on the inside oif the door jam right by the latch mechanism and you simply flip it one way of the other to engage or disengage these child safety locks.

PI being your keyword. Police Interceptors had the option during original purchase and retrofit for the passenger not to be able to open the doors.Yours has this.
