Here's how it works. For every $1.00 the employer pays you, they have to pay the government about 24 cents: FICA, Medicare, FUTA, SUTA, Worker's comp. That's 24 cents the employer is paying for your labor that you don't see. The government gets it.
Now, for every dollar you receive, the employer withholds by law about 24 cents to cover your income tax and your portion of FICA and Medicare. Thus, for every $1.24 worth of labor you provide, you net only about 76 cents. The government takes 48 cents. You end up receiving only 61% of the value of your labor income. The government gets 39%!
And that's today. Imagine what it's going to become if Hillary or Obama get elected and pass their socialized healthcare! Hillary said she will *force* every one to buy it. So, even if you are young and healthy, you won't be able to avoid paying her fee for insurance. You're going to see your 61 cents take on your $1.24 worth of labor drop down to, I'd bet, under 50 cents.

There will have to be an enormous new bureaucracy to handle this as well. Health care dollars are going to have to pay for all these people in the new bureaucracy, probably Mexicans who can't even speak English. The hit on your paycheck will be huge.
Slavery is forced working for someone for no pay. As your take home dwindles as a percent of the labor you produce, at what figure do you start to feel you've become a slave to the government? 40% take home? 30%? At the rate the Dems are going, we'll see 25% within 30 years of their running Washington.

To Jen H: That doesn't effect the government's take at all. You still are only getting 61% for your labor efforts. Payroll taxes and Income tax are not avoidable.

Romare: You should read Hillary's first plan in 1993 that almost became law. You could not choose your own doctor. You would be asigned to a "gate-keeper" primary care doc by your local medical kommisar beauracrat. This doc would then choose any specialist. And if you needed speedier treatment and went to a doctor "after-hours" and paid him directly, there were huge fines and jail sentences. Her totalitarian-styled plan is what caused this country to turn both houses over to the Republicans in 1994.
What makes you think that after being elected she won't install the more extreme version from 1993, instead of her campaign-speak version?

Re: ioerr. He doesn't get it. Even if the minimum wage is raised, the government will still take 39% of the employee's production and the employee will only see 61%.

You think you are paying a lot in taxes, wait until we get some people in congress who have some guts & decide to stop fooling the people & raise taxes to pay the debt of this war & the huge amount of welfare we are extending to the country of Iraq. Debt does eventually have to be paid. We are selling debt at an alarming rate. Do you & I have the veracity to face this debt or would we rather saddle our grandchildren with it. It amazes me that we stand for the amount of money spent on another country while at the same time thumb our noses at our own people. We say "the hell with them, let them fend for themselves". Why not spend a little of that money on a little welfare for our own country?
When I was 21 years old I never thought about healthcare. I didn't need it. I was healthy, no aches, no pains, I was sitting on top of the world. But, unknown to me, I got old just as everybody else does. The money I spent on taxes for medicare when I was young was wasted, or so I thought at that time. All that money & I never used it. I'm older now & just rebounded from a mild stroke. Boy, was I ever glad for medicare. My three hour stay in the hospital, with all the test & MRI's, my bill was $2,700. My end of the cost was $41. I think you will find that as you get older you WILL think differently about healthcare. you might even change your mind about looking out for your neighbor. Maybe just a little bit!

I'm not positive about your numbers exactly... but assuming they're correct...
you list all the programs that these funds provide... maybe you should do some research into the GROSS NEGLIGENCE, mainly in business, that lead to many of these programs being implemented...
what would be your plan? if something happens to a worker you just roll them into the gutter so they can die? or do you expect these programs for free? (I'm sure you'll say "the worker should save money for a rainy day"... but that's simply not a realistic statement based on the huge number of people barely making a living wage)
EDIT: you should also add what percentage most people pay for healthcare a month... it's often a pretty high percentage... and in today's world... it's a necessity

Uh huh. So, how does the right feel about raising the minimum wage? Against that are they?
How about putting up trade barriers so employers can't so easily turn high paying American jobs to low paying foreign jobs? Bad for the economy, that is?
Yeah, the right's really concerned about workers.
The right b*tches about payroll taxes because they'd like to let employers lower wages that much more and keep the money themselves.

You need to let these people know there is no reason for them to raise taxes or charge people fees for socialized health care considering there is a system already in place and the military takes advantage of it why not just extend it to the average citizen as well so they would not have to worry about extra health care cost and still give people the option for high cost health care that way it covers all bases without leaving anyone out.

Your considerable different has no criminal rights of being allowed day without work for a funeral - even however maximum businesses have a provide and take coverage. It does look outrageous that this organisation does the taking without the giving. If i exchange into your considerable different i could make a factor of no longer beginning artwork 20 minutes early or staying late. i think she could additionally no longer attend the funerals of the citizens in her very own time, even however that for the duration of basic terms spites the citizens themselves who've completed no longer something incorrect and not the employers - so she no longer choose to try this. It would not seam like a organisation i could like working for.

Yes. Actually more like 60 cents. I get benefits for the rest of the money. God willing I'll get it back and then some when I retire. If I don't it won't matter to me, anyway.
"Young and healthy" people should keep in mind what the disabled call you, "temporarily able-bodied". There may come a time that you are thankful that you and your employer paid into health insurance, disability insurance, unemployment insurance, and retirement.

You'll pay for it in other, additional ways too. Medicaid is actually paid for by the states as well as the Feds, so your state income and/or sales taxes will increase if HillaryCare crams unfunded mandates onto the states.
And another bad thing is that when the burdon of healthcare costs are lifted from american corporations, do you actually think that there is an iota of chance that they will lower their prices of the products they sell ? HAHAH hell no.
We will get screwed by uncle sam, hillary, and big bizness.

im no socialist but socializing healthcare is a great idea. i dont see what the problem is. i mean im sure your not a doctor so your not gonna take a huge salery cut aside from the extra for healthcare from your paycheck. but look at what well receive in return, every citizen will be covered and will have a little more peace of mind. just because your healthy today doesnt mean you will be tomorrow. But if its socialized you will be covered no matter what. i mean our police protection is socialized, is that a bad idea? can you imagine how expensive protection would be if the police wasnt socialized and we had to pay private companies.

Your equation leaves out things like earned income credit. However, it is essentially correct. I've been paying it for 38 years, since I got my first job at 14 and was making $1.00 an hour.

This is interesting. Does putting money before taxes into a 401k help? I would rather keep paying for my insurance the way it is now. You can select your own doctors, to me that makes the biggest difference.
