Hello England!!!
For those who watch Football (not American Football), I wanted to know what you guys thought about David Beckham in concerns of the National Team. Will he make the team for Euro 2008? What do you guys think? In my opinion, I think he should be given a chance. Yes, he is injured. However, when he is healthy and fit, there are not many players in the world that could take his place. Yes, SWP is also very good. To my understanding, he has a more of an attacking style of play. Becks is more of a play maker. Does England need an attacker when Owne and Hesky is on the pitch, or a play-maker,which leads me back to my real question......will Becks play for England in Euro 2008, the 2010 world cup...Both perhaps?Neither? Let me know your opinion if possible.
From the Curious American,
Freddy G

At last...an American understanding our beautiful game.
Yes, if David can stay injury free, he will be included in our national team. David has many abilities, running is now sadly not one of them, but for him to make 2 or 3 good crosses to either owen, hesky, crouch, rooney etc, he will create chances for them to finish off.
The only change I would like to make to the English team is to take the captancy away from John Terry and give it to whom it should have gone to......Stevie Gerrard. He was my natural choice to replace DB.

If England can continue to play like it did in the September qualifiers and makes it to the Euro 2008 Finals, I think Beckham will be on the team. I am not sure if he starts or will be used as a reserve. It may depend on his injury status at the time.
I am less convinced that he will still be on the national team for the 2010 World Cup. Three years is a long time for a player in the latter stages of a career. It may depend on how the young players develop. My hunch says Beckham will probably want to be on the team, but might not make it. In any case, Beckham retires from national team play after the 2010 World Cup.

Yes, as long as England qualify for Euro 2008, and as long as Becks doesn't get injured again or retire then he will almost certainly play again for England.
He is getting towards the end of his International career but he is still one of the best long-range passers in the world, and can still take a decent free kick.
I don't think he should be in the starting xi for a while as the team are playing well enough right now without him, and without Lampard and Rooney.he should definitely be in the squad though.

With all due respect to all Soccer fans,
I know my opinion will get the English fans very
angry but the facts must be told ....
BECKHAM is done with Soccer as a player !
He likes the flashy & the red carpet life.
He sees himself above others and if anyone watched the last game,he changed the jersey
with a suit before the game is over and was acting as a manager not as an anjered player !
As for the English National team:
Right after the world cup of 2006 he was removed
and replaced by Terry (I believe)as the captain,
then they put him back on and they're watching
to see how he plays in the U.S.A.and decide !
He'll never finish the five years contract with
the LA Galaxy USA.

It depends on Beckham, really. If he is not injured, then I can't find a reason as to why he can't play for England National Team. However, due to his old age, even if he plays, I do not think he can play full time .

No chance . His days are over. He always was a very limited player with an ability to make accurate crosses and free kicks and that's about all. There are more versatile players ready to take his place.
Now he's playing in America he cannot train with the team and trying to play on both sides of the Atlantic will be too much of a strain

becks will definately play for england again there is no doubt about that.If he didnt maclaren would lose face after bringing him back in the first place, plus we need his experience and his passing ability when we play the bigger teams.SWP has taken his chance well but lets not get carried away isreal or russia are not what you would call giants of the game.i think becks will teature in the euros but i doubt very much if he will make the world cup.

We haven't qualified yet.
The current squad is the result of a lot of injuries, and is not McLaren's first choice. However they have performed well so I think he should stick with most of them. Beckham has become a marginal player who may make it into the team if others get injured.

I think a lot will depend on injuries, his and other players' if Shaun 'over-priced' Phillips is fit and Aaron Lennon, Lampard and Gerrard, then I can't see McLaren putting him in the squad! But for me, I personally would always have him in the squad!!
