No offense but, many American's are just dumb and not open-minded people so gullable toward politics.

All the polticians ever want is to get re-elected and rack up millions of dollars toward ear-marks.
They say they were going to end Iraq War, it didn't happen.

It's always me, me, me, me, vote for me.

Your thoughts?

Most Americans are conformists and cannot think for themselves. Religion plays a BIG role.

Though I may agree with some of what you say, part is absolutely untrue! You would make a good politician!

And while some is about me, me, me there have been a lot who have done some good, and others a lot of good! Some just the opposite as we are witnessing currently!

Your statement "They say they were going to end Iraq War, it didn't happen" perhaps is true on it's face, but it had nothing to do with most politicians lying! They will end the war, not while Republicans are in office.

Though the House and the Senate became Democrat controlled, the senate the Democrats held a 2 seat margin! Almost split in 1/2. When the Democrats did get bill's passed, they went to Bush to sign and he vetoed them.

There is no way that the Democrats were going to get the 2/3 votes necessary to over-ride a veto. And they didn't.

So if you want to blame anyone, blame the Republicans still in office who may not control what bills get passed, but until either they are thrown out or a Democrat elected president, there isn't a lot they can do, though you will see more efforts and I am afraid the Republicans are going to have to distance themselves from Bush very soon or not be re-elected! And rightfully so!

Have you seen the polls? Most Americans don't trust politicians of either party. I would hate to serve in Congress, for example, where the checks and balances of the system would prevent me from doing most of what I campaigned for.

I think it would be best if politicians admitted up front that they might be blocked by other powers that be from doing a lot of what they say they want to do. Unfortunately no one wants to hear "I will try" any more; everyone seems to demand that their elected officials succeed in doing what they want done and they consider failure to be broken promises.

When we apply for a job, do we tell our prospective employer that we might fail? Maybe politicians are not so different from the people who send them to office.

Sadly our gullibility is due to our being so uninformed about what is really going on, so that we will believe what politicians say out of trust, rather than understanding. As a society we are remarkably ignorant of what is going on both on the world stage, but what is happening here as well. It is our responsibility to be informed and to participate in our government. To not do so we do at our own risk, and the present state of affairs in the US speaks to how greatly we have fallen down on the job. If we were an informed and active population, politicians would tremble before us, and our government would be responsive to our needs and their duties. But, politicians are well aware that we pay little attention to government, so they offer pablum to us and we eat it up with a spoon. They act out their little charade for us promising this or that and will continue to do so until we wake up.

They are not that bad but in any event can probably spell "majority" and "gullible". If "Americans" are indeed gullible then the citizens of the UK run a very close second and might even pip them in the final run.

That pretty much sums it up. I can't add much more substance to a dead-on accurate assessment of American politics.
