How long have you been thinking about this? Letters come from the heart and we have no idea what your situation is so it would be fair to say that you need to do this by yourself.

What you need to do in that letter is to tell him how much you love him. tell him that he is the most important thing in your life. Tell him that you are with him not only when everything is good, but also when things are not so good. Remind him that you are and will be on his side always. Tell him that even though you have and will go through hard times, you two will come out in victory. Tell him that id doesn't matter how tough life comes at you, that both of you will be able to face it and confront it together. Tell him that you are there for him, that he can come to your shoulder and let everything out. That you and him will become stronger and that no matter how difficult things might look, that you are ready to face them. But above all tell him that you love him with all your heart.

Do more than a letter.
Plan a weekend away for the two of you and keep it a surprise. If you have kids, find someone to watch them. Give your husband the dates and tell him not to plan anything during that time, that you have something special planned.... but don't tell him what you are up to. Mystery like this in a marriage can be nice and very rewarding *wink*
Buy something sexy to wear and pack it away for the trip. Also buy some candles to take with you and don't forget the lighter. Make reservations somewhere away from town and don't let anyone but one person know where you are. Turn the cell phones off so you aren't disturbed.
Then write a love letter from your heart. Use the links below to get ideas because this needs to come from you as you tie it in with your life together and the special feelings you have for him. Here are some quotes they had listed so maybe a beautiful card with one of these quotes might be enough to tell him, along with some chocolate covered strawberries which you can feed him between kisses :)
PAST QUOTES OF THE DAY
"Love. Laughter. Life. Without the first two, the third does not exist." --submitted by Malinda Childers
"My thoughts don't make any sense unless I'm thinking of you." --submitted by Michelle
"Love is like war, easy to start, hard to end, impossible to forget." --Source Unknown
"Love is like a falling star, beautiful, magical and everlasting."
--Anonymous
"It took a while to understand what love is, but it'll take forever to forget what it was like."
--submitted by MP
"Love is like sun rays breaking through the clouds to warm your soul."
--Anonymous
"Hearts will never be practical until they can be made unbreakable."
--Frank Baum
Another thing you might want to do is send him love cards at work (if he is allowed to get them there) or leave them on his pillow so he can find it when he goes to bed at night. Do this every now and then to let him know he is in your thoughts a lot. Spontaneity is the key to keep him wondering but also to help build him up. Tell him you want to put the past away and leave it there because neither of you can change it, all you can do is learn from it and become better people because of it. That's what trials are all about, becoming stronger and more loving as we get older and wiser :)
When you two part, always look him in the eye and tell him you love him and give him a kiss. When you are walking in a store, take his hands and walk together. Go for walks together in the evenings and enjoy the stars as you hold hands and laugh over something silly that happened to one of you... or just enjoy the quiet time together.
When you are sitting at the table eating, wink at him when he looks at you (I do this with my husband a lot of times :) Put a short love note in his wallet so when he goes to buy something, he finds the note, too (I do this, too).
Once you get your thoughts going, they will continue to grow so keep a notebook of ideas and surprise him occasionally with something special, then cross it off your list and plan the next one. Good luck and have fun :)

Sitting him down and telling him in person would be alot better. Letters never show emotions. So, just sit him down and ask him to just listen without saying a work until you are finished. That way you can get it all out with out any interuptions. Good Luck!

You need it to come from your heart, and your compassion. We do not know what his problems were and it is not our business, but you as his wife do know and what ever it was you need to let him know you are there for him and that you will help him work it out, Or accept it, and move on.
sorry one can not say what is in an-others heart and mind,

Stacy ... just write from bottom of your heart! It is the best letter from you to him. Does not need fancy letter.
You can do it!
