Good question. i do not know the answer. I believe that Bush is smart enough not to hand out any endorsement.

I am assuming that you are speaking about George H.W. Bush and if he decides to endorse Fred Thompson for President, it could help Thompson because he is being endorsed by a former American President.

I think it would hurt but I cannot see it happening. Thompson is probably the preferred candidate amongst those few that still support Bush. So the only people to whom the endorsement would mean anything positive are already largely on the Fred bandwagon.

I don't think Fred would want and endorsement from Mr. Bush.

The President is going to stay out of this for the long run as he has friends and former colleagues in all camps. So until the nomination is won he probably will not say anything.

George Bush will not be endorsing anyone for president. Do you remember who Bill Clinton endorsed for president? (my point)

Among the Republican "base," an endorsement from Dubya would probably be considered a good thing. For anyone else, it could be the kiss of death.

I don't think it would do much good for Thompson in the primaries, but I think Bush would automatically back him if he gets the nomination.
