I think he would be a better political strategist for someone like Thompson. The guy is brilliant and I agree with him on most issues, but he lacks something that would make him a presidential contender.

Newt Gingrich is the smartest guy out there among those running or potentially running for President. He will obviously get a lot of shrill voices from the idiots and haters like the one above. (Does any thinking person really believe these polls?) He is the only one with clear, substantive ideas. He is a great speaker and has a pleasant non-abrasive debate style. Yes he had an extramarital affair, he also balanced the budget for the first time in a very long time. The lies from the left pushed him out as speaker, but should he run and win he would make an excellent President. Though Bush is probably the most honest, moral and decisive President this country has had in my lifetime, he doesn't have the communication skills of a Reagan or Gingrich.

No but I like Newt! Newt is too polarizing. This is the mistake the liberals are making now by pushing Hillary. So many people hate her that they will simply vote against her. This will doom her candidacy. The same would happen with Newt.
Besides, he claims the DNC has an 8 out of 10 shot in winning in 08. I totally disagree with that.

Who ARE you people? If only 27% of the American public still thinks this president is doing a good job, why are so many of you on YA!???? Is it just one guy with tons of screen names or are you just practical jokers?
It's almost impossible to believe that there is one American who thinks that Gingrich would be the right president to get our country out of the mess it's in. Trying to imagine what's inside YOUR brain is making MY brain hurt.

No would not, disagree with his results in Congress which sent us to the losses we had in 2006. Also his recent comments on democratic candidates have made me not trust that he is trying to land a spot in one of their administations.

Hasn;t Guiliani got the hypocrite serial adulterer and divorcee vote wrapped up?
John B - even if everything you say were true - it is irrelevant. He has been exposed as a massive hypocrite. He simply wouldn't fly with the electorate.

Absolutely not and let's be thankful it will never happen. His hypocritical attitude towards Clintons BJ when he himself was having an extramarital affair has let him out of grace with both the Repub party and the christian right.

No he isn't Presidential material. He simply has the wrong personality. He mightn't be a bad chief of staff, though.

No. I liked him back in the 90's, I like him as a political commentator, but I don't think he'd make a good President.
