Layla, i couldnt agree more on Fabolous, he has all the tools to be (dare i say it) great...maybe thats a stretch, but he could easily be one of the best in the game but he flirts w/ the mainstream type-sound too much

correction....i meant "commercial" rather than mainstream

1. I might get knocked for this but I say Fabolous. He has it, a little here a little there, but I have yet to hear a worthy album or track that will make my eyes pop or say "OH SH!T!". He seriously has the potential, but he is stuck in the commercial music and trying to sell what is popular demand. I need more sufficent work from him.

2. Prodigy from Mobb Deep. It really gets under my skin that he is spitting out some nonsense. Love the guy, I even have a thing for him...lol...but damn he doesn't spit like he use to.
Sh!t!! No more clever metaphors, he just spits out whatever. His 16 bars don't even relate to the same topic. He goes all over the place. Like he says in his track I Know
"****** wanna ruin my mood
They say I fell off
I'm slacking on the rapping
I'm slippin' on them songs
Everybody got an opinion"
At least he realizes what people are saying about him. I'll still stand by him....LOL.

LMAO......IMTHEMAN...good 1....... I'm only 4'10 so I think he would still be taller than me!!! LOL..

Good Question.

I'ma go with Layla and also say Fabo. The guy has more than enough skills but this constant need he has to sell out. He could have easily been the top of New York if only he would focus on rapping rather than doing love songs with Jagged Edge or B2K

Memphis Bleek is another one. Granted he did not write his verse on Coming Of Age (from Reasonable Doubt) but he was still out of the gates on fire. And some of his collabos with Jigga and Beans he really shines. He should count himself lucky that he is Jay's #1 Homie or he would be without a deal right now

At the risk of getting thumbs down, I'll say AZ. Tough one because he has actually dropped decent albums but the strength of that flawless verse on life's a b*tch is still his measuring bar.

Last but not least I say Fat Joe. I think that if Pun had not passed he would have kept Fat Joe from selling out the way he has. But the way things turned out you would never know that Fat Joe was a member of DITC with all the bs he spits.

1. Rappers who never lived up to their potential.
-Hmmm... At the moment, I can think of two, 50 and Game. Both came out blazin with their first albums and then kinda fell off. I guess 50 tryin to make a comeback, but...yeah.

2. Which rappers aren't rapping at their full potential?
-Young Dro and Game. Both are great lyricist, in my opinion, but aren't where they need to be/should be in their careers. Also, a dude named 4 Eyez with DTP. I'm not sure if he's a great lyricist that hasn't made a name for himself yet or just great at freestylin.

edit** Couldn't agree more with Cassidy either. I guess I forgot about him.

**Ludacris...are you serious? The man is great. He is one of the South's best rappers.

1)-Joe Buddens he was off to pretty good start...but challenged Jay and it was a wrap
2.Lady Luck she had an album deal with Def Jam...This girl held it down on mix tapes and did her thing on EPMD's Symphony...but DJ wanted her image to be more like "FOXY and KIM's" she wasnt having that and either got shelved or dropped
3.Rah Digga was on Lauryn Hills...lol Heels lyrically and her first album was descent...But her label put her second album on ICE and she hasnt really been out...except with Busta
4.Supernatural I almost forgot about this dude until Layla brought him up...he was a freestyle genius and could battle anybody...But when it came to wax...Iono what was the deal...Some ppl cant do records

Current rappers
2)Remy Ma didnt live up to her potential...Her album sucked to me...She was hot when she was spitting on Joe's album or anybody else....Like Big L's Triboro joint. She came down with the case of Hollywood
2. I agree that Em fell off too...I guess that song dissing black girls caught up with him.
3. Jay and Nas these are icons I think their last efforts could have been better...Nas was on the right track with hip hop is dead...But a lot of content could have been better.JayZ I guess like his song HOLLYWOOD thats where his music went...lol I know you have to grow but that was too much of a loop for us...We arent ready for the "all grown up" JayZ...It had its moments but he lost his hunger...Let's hope the two get together and bring the essence back.
4.Red&Meth these guys were hot together...but what happened...I kno it was How High and the ignorant as s TV show they made...Can you say HOLLYWOOD blinded them into losing us...Meths album came out and so did the crickets...lol Cuz I didnt hear it...Red's album came out it was alright but he kept shouting out his crew thru the whole thing...annoying

I hope that Lil Wayne shouting that he's the best give these guys motivation...nahmean

I think Juelz Santana could be a more decent rapper if he stops all that crack rap ish. Which is stupid. He picks boring topics in his songs.

I agree with FredMS about Cassidy. He could build up & deliver better before he does a punchline sometimes. I don't like punchline rappers that much I'm more into lyricists.

I would say M.C. Ren, I thought he was up their with Ice Cube in the N.W.A. days, he had the voice and the flows, but never came together lyrically.

Xzibit started out with a bang, but it seems since his 'Pimp My Ride' show, he's not as original as he was when he was just rapping.

first off, I have to agree with Layla bout Fabolous...in that "From Brooklyn to Compton" I think he actually outrapped the game (who i'm a fan of)...That "Breathe" song was great...I think that Canibus never really lived up to his enormous potential, same with prodigy and cassidy...Jin never lived up to his potential (however he's got time), I don't really think Beanie Siegel did either...

cassidy could be crazy if he just stopped using a punchline in every single line.

Fat Joe used to be the ish but i have no idea what he is tryin to do now.
Snoop doesnt care about his lyrics and u can tell
eminem went so pop its not funny
