I'm an unsigned artist. I do comedy songs. I had a radio station debut 3 of my songs & put me on their REAL web page...will this boost me to the level of fame I want or is it just a start? It is in a very large American city. Have you ever heard of a radio station supporting an unknown this much? Tell me what you think and tell me any experience you have in this situation.

yes, Im from Chicago and Mancow has done it with several artist and groups. I believe Fall Out Boy was one, and maybe Smashing Pumpkins. There are very few DJ's that will support unknown's if they really like their music. Those are the bold one's. There is a hip hop and r&b radio station out here that plays a new song by an unknown artist everyday.

Yeah, if someone at the station takes an interest.

I remember 8 years ago, LFO and that song "Summer Girls (Abercrombie & Fitch)" caught on because one DC station played it all the time, then everyone else picked it up.

there is a radio station in the uk called bbc radio 1, you have probably heard of it.
the dj on the morning show chris moyles likes unknown people, but you have to have a big (huge) personality, and phone in during the show or email or something to pique his interest.
he is basically the biggest thing in radio in the uk, and he has made many people famous.
thats only if you want to be famous in the uk though lol, but i just thought of it

It shouldn`t be about the fame, just focus on making good music, and you`ll be appreciated. It matters, some stations support local artists, and others don`t. I`m sure there`s other stations out there that support artists as much.
