I don't know that model. If you have a relatively high end computer, it may be worth it, especially if you can do the work yourself or get it done cheaply.
If your computer needs are rather modest, you may be better off buying a new machine.

The question you will have to answer is... why do need to upgrade RAM and storage? Is it because you feel your computer is slower and you need more storage for your files, or simply "just upgrading"?
I would suggest considering new laptops with better dual core processors (because i believe VGN-FS920 has Pentium M only). Upgrading hardwares must be proportional on the board capacity and processor speed. Upgrading relentlessly may just make your device slower in the long run.
Also, the memory modules keep on changing all the time. And, OS (like Vista) are hardware dependents. You may end up on a phased out system in a few years time after the upgrade. Try looking for a futuristic specs that can be good for the next 3-5 years.
On the other hand, external hard drives may provide reliable and versatile extra storage for you.

Buying RAM and a bigger hard drive and installing them both is not worth the time and money- Also, sooner or later, your video card will become outdated, and so will everything else in your computer. It is better to get a new computer.
However, you can still live with an outdated computer.
I have a 7 year old compaq presario and I've had no problems for the past 3 years.

The model number you've provided suggests that this is a laptop.
Buying a new computer might be the easier option. Though a new disk and memory may (or may not) be a cost effective answer. When buying a new disk for your laptop, consider how you're going to move your operating system (windows)and data (emails, pictures, music etc.) Can you do this on your own or will you need help?
If you need assistance it may cost more in time, energy and money to buy the hourly help it takes to accomplish this task then compared to buying a new computer.

It depends on what you want to do with it. I had a compaque with a windows 95 that I wanted to do photo work with. The programs I had interest in could not work with it even with an upgrade they could not promise that it would. So to do what I wanted I had to choice but to go to a newer model.

That's like asking .... should I buy new tires and a new engine for my car.
Depends upon the shape it's in, how new it is, how much money you want to stick in it.

First, download CCleaner, a free program that cleans up useless files that you do not know about.
This will clean out your RAM and hard drive.
The first time I used it, I cleaned up to 1.4 GIGABYTES.
I use Ccleaner every week and I clean up to about 20mb every week on my computer.
