Depends what you mean by honest and liars. Most politicians do not make statements that they know to be false. However, most top politicians (i.e. the real contenders) are experts at using double talk to evade issues. They also know how to emphasize the issues on which their positions are compatible with the views of the general public and how to make their positions seem reasonable.

In short, they are as honest as they can be and still get elected. When politicians get too honest, they tend to lose (e.g. Walter Mondale in 1984, Bruce Babbitt in 1988, Paul Tsongas in 1992).

The only one I have any tangential knowledge of outside of media information is Mitt Romney. I know a few people in Utah who worked with him on the Olympics, and they uniformly think he's not only honest, but a genuinely good guy.

The general impression is that he's also quite thoughtful, and because he's thoughtful, he's willing to rethink and even change a position or decision when he gets new or updated information. Nobody I've talked to that worked with him thinks he's the kind of leader who will stake out a position and hold to it no matter what. He's a course corrector, not a course holder, according to the people I've spoken with.

I think he's the best candidate, and would probably be the best president since Truman--but he's got absolutely no chance at getting elected.

The media will NEVER allow an actual Eagle Scout--a guy with absolutely no scandal in his past, no affairs, no drug or alcohol problems, no huge financial debacles at his companies--to be elected. It would destroy the whole basis of 21st centery political reporting if Mitt Romney were to get elected--because the media would have to go back to doing substantive reporting on the issues, rather than digging up dirt and mudslinging!

Romney most likely won't get past Super Tuesday. The media will continue to push the 'Mormon' thing--because it's all they've got TO push-- until it derails his campaign.

Hate to say it, but almost no politician is honest. I know that whoever I vote for will have lied to me at some point. Hell even the pope has lied I'm sure. I would say Huckabee has been pretty honest, and Ron Paul doesn't seem to be a person who would lie, the stuff he says isn't gonna get him the nom, so why lie if it's gonna get you the exact opposite of what your running for? That's most of what I can think of in the GOP. As for the dems, Obama is a liar, so is Clinton, but maybe Richardson, but I don't know. I'm sure there is just as many honest dems, ( agian a tiny number on both sides ) but I havn't looked at them well enough.

Depends on who it is. Giuliani has to be the absolute worst, though most Republicans closely follow him. They are already talking about "Fiscal Responsibility", which most were leaders in. Take a look and see what Repubs records are:

You tell me who was the most fiscally conservative with OUR money?

Democrats: Though I like a couple of the low tiered ones because they are right and they crack me up, it is people like them who do not know the workings of the system and how many of their promises they can't keep, usually because it isn't in there power to change! Or anyone else.

I don't know about Obama, but his negativity and low-road tactics have crept into his campaign, I don't trust him.

Edwards I like, and probably is one of the more decent people running. I liked Jimmy carter to, ans still do, but his presidency was marred by people who he trusted who were outsiders in Washington.

I am left with Hillary, who is probably not the most honest, but is more honest than most. As far as diplomacy, there is no one who can touch her. She probably knows just about every world leader personally, and is liked, as is her husband!

She is far from perfect, but she is no where close to the swamp wallowing liars who have been screwing this country up for 12 years! They have no shame and will go to any length to deceive the American people! She is not afraid to confront people either!

As I do not believe the war can be won militarily, and all the Generals are on my side, Bush has taken NO diplomatic measures. I think Hillary can end the war diplomatically without pissing everyone off. Neocons may not like it, but then they aren't going to like anything she does!

I would say Edwards is the most honest, but Hillary can get the job done. I think she is pretty honest as well.

You can usually tell with Hillary, her nose does not grow, but her lips move when she speaks her usual doubletalk. As for Edwards and Obama, since they don't know what they are talking about anyway it doesn't really matter.
Not that the Rep candidates are exactly winners. Is there no one left in this country with both brains and backbone? And no it is not Ron Paul.

Are you really this naive ? Boy, there are NO honest politicians in this world, if they claim they are and you believe them, they are the best actors and the oscars should go to them. Come now, tell me the truth, you must be joking right ?

How would you know who's the liar if he's really a liar?
How would you know who's honest if he's really honest?
