It's a cultural thing. Circumcision is only required by Judaism and Islam. However, around the 1800's doctors and the US government began aggressively promoting circumcision because it supposedly made boys less likely to masturbate.
Some cited reasons are improving appearance (the same argument behind female genital mutilation) and preventing infection (although circumcision itself can cause infections, and an uncircumcised penis will be fine if kept clean). America is one of the only countries in the world where circumcision is common.

Where did you get the idea that ALL American men are circumcised? It originally started as a religious thing and some religions still believe in it. However, I think now it has become just the common thing to do. I always swore that I would never do that to any son I ever have. I think it's barbaric and certainly not medically necessary. However, I do know that there is a hygene concern when you don't get it done. I personally know a little boy who didn't get circumcised until at the age of 4 he got a nasty infection which left him no choice. That is what is even more cruel in my opinion. There certainly is a hygene issue where that is concerned and I would rather circumcise a baby than a 4 year old boy or a man.

Circumcision began as a covenant between God and His people. The practice has value spiritually (obedience) and physically. Circumcision does prevent infection. Only uncirced males get penile cancer.
I have taken care of many men in the hospital who were uncirced and the things I've seen are frightening. Men who are not circed end up with infection and adhesions (where the foreskin grows to the tip of the penis), balantis, phimosis and urinary tract infections.
It is popular for the medical community to say there is no benefit from circumcision, but the statistics don't lie. I've also seen enough to know better. There is nothing worse than a 57 year old man having to be circed because he's developed diabetis and is not having penile problems.
On the sexual side... would you want to have oral sex with an uncirced male? Just think of all that smegma under the foreskin!

In the U.S., It's done mostly for hygienic reasons and to prevent infections, including for any future female partners. Religion or a coming of age ritual are also big reasons in other parts of the world. There is also evidence it may reduce sensitivity which actually is most likely a good thing as it helps to reduce premature ejaculation and may allow the man to focus more on the emotional aspect of the experience and be more attentive to his partner. The procedure has been shown not to impede sexual function in men. I was circumcised as an adult, and my aunt is a nurse whom I have talked about this with, so I do have experience both ways.
If a male is not circumcised, a substance called smegma is produced under the foreskin, which can cause foul Oder and potentially infection if the area is not cleaned enough. A male who is not circumcised has to have scrupulous hygiene or else it can cause problems. The majority of men do have good hygiene, so it is really not a major problem for most men either way. But still, many do not, and some men still have Oder problems even if they do. It's just more hygienic if it's done. According to the world health organization, about 30% of men world wide are circumcised. Relitively few are circumcised in Europe, though, but actualy most polynisians and pacific islanders in general (including Philapinos) are among those who do circumcise.

firstly, no males choose to get circumcised at birth. It is their parents who do that.
Secondly, removing foreskin from a penis does not make it bigger. Similarly tro breast reduction surgery, circumcision makes you have less.
Thirdly, there are a few medical reasons for circumcision but none of them would apply to a newborn.
So that leaves only religious reasons and that is limited to people of the Jewish faith; muslims circumcise later.
So, unless there is a medical circumcision is not required even thoug it is widely practiced in one or two countries.

Some religions like Judaism and Islam require male infants to be circumcised at birth. I'm Muslim and my husband and all the male members of his family were circumcised when they were born. My sons will also be circumcised when they are born. It's part of our religion and part of the Covenant that God made with Abraham(PBUH*) and his descendants. Circumcision also makes the penis easier to clean and is healthy. It cuts down on men getting HIV, AIDS or other sexually transmitted diseases and cuts down on the risk of penile cancer. In Islam we have to pray 5 times a day and we have to be clean when we pray. Men can't be clean if they have a piece of skin over the head of their penis and that would make their prayer not valid. Plus it can lead to infections and you can get dirt under the skin that is over the penis so it's just easier to take care of if the foreskin is cut off.

Several of our health practices stem from the Jewish religion, and circumcision is one of them. It does not make the penis larger. The removal of the prepuce or foreskin makes cleaning of the area easier. Bacteria grows in dark and moist places. However, many uncircumcised males have no problem, and some cultures (ie: Polynesian) do not circumcise. I've had a very happy and normal uncurcumcised life. I am a grandfather. Another thing, doctors get paid to do this.

Circumcisions do not enlarge the size of a penis, and the only reason circumcision still happens is cause b!tches have a sadistic fetish for it. And men are cucks. And feminists don't give a **** cause they escapes the knife long ago.

It doesn't enlarge it! LMAO!
It doesn't do anything except remove the foreskin. It's not proven to significantly limit infections or anything, although it might well diminish sensation.
Most people don't get it done - only 15% of people in the world, and rates are dropping in the USA.

Mostly religious reasons. It does not enlarge it at all. Only a skin protecting the head is being cut off.
My personal belief is that its not a good idea to cut anything that nature has provided to us. The skin helps in protecting the head......why cut it off???
