Don't worry about the whole nickname thing. A nickname will come naturally, and others around her will choose it for her. It all depends on her personality! My son refuses to be called by the nickname that my hubby and I pondered for months. He prefers to be called his full name, and nothing else. With a 10 letter name, you'd think he'd like something shorter, but he is adamant!
BTW, I love the name you've chosen! I've known a lot of Hannah's. One goes by "Hannah-Bear" (she's 6) and the other by "Hann" (she's 32).
Good luck!

That is a beautiful name, Hanna Rain.
Don't be in a hurry to find a nick-name....... let her own little personality come out as she grows up and more than likely a name will pop into your head. She might get the name from another family member or a friend. Just wait and see.

Sometimes, nicknames have nothing to do with the actual name itself. My 4 month old daughter (named Riley) is commonly called Peaches....don't know where that came from and it probably won't stick her whole life (I hope), but it's a fun little baby nickname. If you love the name Hanna - then don't worry about a nickname - you will naturally find yourself calling her whatever fits her "personality". Good luck with your new little one!

I dunno...nobody ever really shortens my name, Lauren, so I guess not all names have nicknames. Personally, I didn't want anyone giving Illyana a nickname, but I know they will! People will probly just call her Hanna!

I like the name you have picked out. I don't think it's needs a nickname, but they might call her Anna, or, Nana or rain, like you said.
Good Luck & what a pretty name for a little girl...

Annie, of course! ;) Anna is, after all, a form of Hanna(h), so it makes perfect sense, and the sound is right there in the name (so it should seem obvious even to anyone unfamiliar with the names' origins). Hope that helps!

I think the name that you have picked out for your daughter is beautiful!! It really doesn't need a nickname, but I agree with your hubby, that people may call her Rain. What about Nan or Nana? Unless. of course, that is what you call Grandma...
Congrats!!
Good Luck

that is a very pretty name!!
however, i do not know what a nickname would be. RN? I mean, not all names have nicknames or nicknames people like. a nickname doesnt even have to come from her name!
For example, growing up I was called Smiley. My name is Danielle. Haha, they obviously did not get Smiley from Danielle, but from who I was or what i was doing -always smiling!

Hanna is a beautiful name................why do you even need a nick name?????
I have a niece named Hanna and she was always called that.
If you want to be silly call her Hanna-bannana.
But day to day.....call her Hanna
