I have a philosophical opinion about this....Technology is great, because we as humans had to advance, and we have, look what I am doing right now....But, I wonder. We really don't KNOW, what sending a rocket ship with all that burning fuel does to our planet when it is sent off into space, going through our ozone layer and such. How do we know what that does to our planet? Drilling for oil, mining minerals, all of it.....We are messing with the natural order of things on this planet, and sending rocket ships from the Earth into outer space, we may find in the long run it isn't just money that we have wasted, we may have damaged the Earth beyond repair as well......Think of what that money could do for homeless people, our Vets, poor children, etc. Especially when parts of it fall off!!! I suppose we have to keep up with everyone else, but at what cost......

Only the people who are still in need for their domestic budget to be strong would object to such a use. and the wealthiest among social elite have their sights set high, This question has been a complicated one when the ear of the intended receiver can not bend toward the ground which does support it's very feet. Philosophies do differ quite a bit. There is not much that can be understood when the phrase " tax payers" is used as a leverage language.( my two cent worth).

It's already going into space. The additional weight of a movie prop is a very, very small amount of fuel. It might not have any purpose, but if it is a waste, it's not a large one.

it is a very small amount of weight--they well bring it back---and NASA--wasts-less tax dollars--the any other organization--if you want to look at tax waist-take a good long look at congress--and the pork--they dump out--at least NASA--does some good--for all people--and not just a few--as congress does

This is only a little theater to help raise public awareness about NASA. As such, it may pay for itself in a little while.

NASA certainly isn't the only thing that is wasting taxpayers' money.
