The best answer is twice a year maximum and once a year minimum. It does make a difference if your car is always in a garage and you don't put that many miles on it in a year. Sunlight is the worst enemy of paint and clear coat.

Here's why; every time you wax the car you remove a few microns of paint or clear coat.

It is best if you do "two coats" at one time. The first coat removes much of the oxidized paint and or clear coat. The second coat is the actual finsihing coat and leaves the highest gloss and protection.

I've seen wax fanatics and they get so carried away that they prematurely wax through the clear coat and it starts to peel off or they wax right through the paint to the primer.

No bad paint only bad waxer. Wax on! Wax off!

Good Luck!

Newer cars are clearcoated--so the color is not actually what is waxed--check with the dealer if you have a clearcoated car from the manufacturer. If not--there are nice easy to use liquid waxes--I suggest that you do a fender a week--because you get tired after 20 minutes--you will not polish as hard as you wear away into the job. So do a door or a fender or a hood a week--one little part at a time and you will have it done in a couple of weeks. NEVER wash a car with dish detergent--or any other soap--the dish detergent is meant to remove grease from dishes--well it removes wax as well--so no soap is ever needed--use a bucket of cold water in a cool shady spot and a great big soaking wet sponge--wash a little from the top down and rinse as you go along. That will be best and no spots unless you live in an area where the water is hard or treated harshly. Get a good big wet chamois and wring it out before drying the car off. Don't drag a dry chamois on the paint.

white needs the lease and black needs the most.

white can get away with 2 wax jobs per year
silver 2 or 3
green 3
blues 3 to 4
red, black, dark anything, 4+

the more you wax a car, the more you protect the finish as well as preventing damage, rock chips and other items that cause issues.

you cannot over wax a car, even if waxed daily for a year straight.

2-3 times a year. in between just cold water wash (no soap) and towel or chamoix it off. the wax will stay a long time if you don't detergent it off. the wax helps shed the dirt. too much polishing just wears off the paint and then you get splotches.

minimum of 3-4 times annually. if it's a new car, you should protect it with a polymer wax/sealant. it locks in the shine and it will always look like it just came from the factory. if it's already had contact with the elements, a 3-step detail is preferrable.

some people do it every two weeks some once a month,it doesn't hurt it to keep it waxed ,if you have the time two times a month will better help protect it from the rains and bad weather, once a month is also ok,its what ever you have time to do ,good luck with it.
